Asphalt Based Roof Restorations

SUNLIFE's success restoring built-up asphalt and gravel, smooth asphalt, and modified bitumen roofs can be in large part attributed to its specially formulated Elastic Roof Sealer. It is an asphalt based, high solids material very rich in oils and minerals. When applied to the above type roofs it acts as a resaturant, rejuvenating the old roof membrane. It also provides a water tight seal and when polyester mat is embedded into the material, it provides a base for the two acrylic top coats.

When completed, a SUNLIFE Roof provides a monolithic, seamless, energy efficient, chemical, and UV resistant alternative to expensive tear offs. Since it is applied directly to the existing roof, costly shutdowns and exposure to the weather are eliminated.

SUNLIFE reduces thermal expansion and contraction while absorbing normal building movement, thus reducing splitting, "alligatoring", and flashing failure. The SUNLIFE Roofing System™ reduces surface temperature by more than 40 degrees, meaning an energy savings of 10 to 15% during summer months.

On Asphalt/Gravel: SUNLIFE prevents most blistering created by heat and moisture entrapped beneath the roofing membrane. The SUNLIFE Roofing System™ may be applied over wet insulation, provided there is less than 20% saturation. The system eliminates cracks and splits at expansion joints caused by age, settling, and wind. Roof weight is normally reduced by removal of loose gravel before SUNLIFE is added, yielding an average weight savings of 30 pounds per square.
On Smooth Asphalt: SUNLIFE eliminates most problems of built-up roofs such as blistering, "alligatoring", dried felts, open seams, and splitting. The acrylic material reflects sunlight and resist the UV degradation that breaks down conventional roofing systems. SUNLIFE retains its long-term flexibility and will not become brittle with age.

On Modified Bitumen: Seams and overlaps are sealed to prevent infiltration. Unlike the torch applied process, SUNLIFE poses no fire hazard. This liquid system requires no heat for application reducing the risk of fire or personal injury. The cured film on a horizontal surface will not support combustion.
